how can i add picture ??

i am using structure theme
If u see the home page u’ll see a big white square.
I tryed for few hours to put a picture in that big white square. No results..
How can i add a picture in the big white square ?sry for my bad english..

The primary deature of the Structure theme is the featured image. It is detemined by category.

Step by step and i read every instruction few times.
First time i read http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/05/01/introduction-to-structure/
Then http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/ , this is very simple ..u can’t do anything wrong, have images and help alot.
And after the last click same results.. not working :(
The single changes that i made are some widgets on left and right sides and theme, is black now. The picture i try to upload is taken from suport site, has perfect size.
Why is not working ? This should be a simple thing .. -
