How can I add thumbnail images to excerpts?
-
Hi, I’m a bit confused about excerpts and post formats – what I’m hoping to be able to do is have each of my posts appear on the main (home) page as excerpts, which I’m now familiar with, but each one with a thumbnail image of one of the images in each post. I think this would make the homepage tidier and make it easier for readers to find something they’re interested in. Is this possible? Does it require a different theme? If so, could you please recommend one that may work (that also has a header image option like my current theme – modularity lite).
Hope you can help, many thanks in advance for your help!
Best wishes,
Jonny

Hi Jonny,
Some themes will allow you to do this relatively automatically. If you want to stick with the theme you have now, one option would be to use the “More Tag” so you can add a “Read more” link to the bottom of your posts:
