How can I adjust the size of an image inserted from a url properly?

When posting until recently I could insert the image url and in the new post window adjust it by grabbing a corner and sizing the image – but this was accompanied by a display of the image size – so I could always ensure every posted image was 400px wide. Now there is no number display when sizing an image in a post. My blog will look a mess very quickly! What can I do?

I think the best workaround for the time being is to go into the text editor and resize there. The size will be shown in the html code for the image. It’s a pain, but it works. I just tried it with a couple of images in my current draft and didn’t have any problem. The images resized properly.

I have seen a screenshot of the new editor which shows a toolbar and what appears to be the pixel size of the image off to the right, but neither of those shows up in my image editor.

Many thanks for that – I just need to do some sums to make sure I don’t stretch images that are not square then. I didn’t know there was a new editor coming – I can’t see why they removed such a useful tool! Thanks again.

In the html, you get both dimensions, so you can keep proportions. For example, a photo that’s 450×600 can be reduced to 350×500. You can tweak it however you choose. Good luck!

Thank you so much for that! Hopefully they’ll restore the user-friendliness they had before (WordPress isn’t Yahoo after all!!). But that is a huge help.
