How can I allocate sub categories to parents
-
I’m not getting an option to allocate sub categories to parents when writing new posts.
So now on my front page, the sub category is listed as just another category, equal to the parent.
I’ve been to appearance > widgets and selected and saved “show hierarchy” but nothing has changed.
Can anyone help?

Nope. Example:
http://gannet39.com/category/argentina/buenos-aires-argentina/ (7 posts) is a subcatecory of
http://gannet39.com/category/argentina/ (11 posts)
or
http://gannet39.com/category/argentina/buenos-aires-argentina/recoleta-buenos-aires/ (2 posts, only)
is a subcatecory of
http://gannet39.com/category/argentina/ (11 posts) -

So for example, I want to allocate sub category Picone to the parents Italy/Puglia/Bari but it is currently showing as being equal to Italy.
In the past I was given an option to choose a parent but with the new WordPress.com format I don’t seem to get that option

See the screenshot for classic editor:

Or
Click on WP Admin under “my sites”-> Click on Posts, then Add New, or select an existing post and click Edit. That should bring up the classic/old editor
The new BBB editor sucks. IMHO, of course.

Thanks. Yes I was using the classic version all the time but then they took away the toggle option.
I used to get the classic when I hit Edit on existing posts as you suggest but now it goes to the BBB.
However I still get the classic when I add new as you suggest.
So it’s looking like I’ll have to copy and paste into the classic and create a new post when I want to edit categories in old posts!
I agree the BBB is the pits!!!

The main thread about the “new” Beep Beep Doom editor vs. the classic is here.
