How can I arrange the order for categories on the sidebar?

Categories seem to be automatically arranged in order of their initial letters.
Can I re-order them freely in accordance with my wish?Any help or feedback much appreciated.

I have the same thing, but I think mine ordered them by how I added them. -
Categories appear in alphabetical order only. If you want them to display differently you can make the links yourself using a text widget.

There is a way to force them to not display alphabetically: by putting a number (or letter) before the category name.
