How can I block email commenting from myself on the blog?

  • Unknown's avatar

My Yahoo email has been pirated like most others in 2015. Since then, my blog is spammed by… myself, or so it appears. I think they saved my notifications and use a feature to reply to it by email. Filters and Akismet don’t seem to work since it’s ‘comment by email’ and not via the website. I can’t find how to block email commenting in the settings.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

P.S. : I tried everything Yahoo suggests to reinforce security and “clear” the email account and my computer : it doesn’t change anything.
I don’t think the emails are really coming from my Y! account, I know you can send an email pretending to come from a certain address even if you have no access to it.

Hello, anyone got an answer on the problem above?
Because even closing the comments on the articles don’t block those spam comments!

Another batch of spam comments received today on old articles today :

Sting et Paul Simon au Zénith : le business des packs VIP (suite)

  • Hi there,

The only way I can think of is to blacklist that email address at My Site ->Settings ->Discussion. That should cause any comments from that email to go to Spam.

It might not work if you’re using the same email address for your WordPress.com account, though, so I’d recommend also changing your WordPress.com email address to something else:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account/

I will try that, with little hope as this “reply from email notification” doesn’t seem to apply other spam filters. Thank you.

I’ll pass on your thanks and keep my fingers crossed that does what you need :)
