how can i cancel my domain?
-
Hi there is no gear next to my domain where i can click and cancel it. I want to cancel it so it can be again available and host it with another hosting
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there Rachel!
I highly recommend NOT canceling your domain. Canceling can result in the permanent loss of your custom domain name. I am still more than happy to help you do this, but since you want to use the domain elsewhere, I highly recommend retaining ownership of the domain, and transferring it to your new host.
Here are the instructions on how to do this:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/Please let me know how you want to move forward. Again, I can get the ball rolling on the cancellation, but think you’d be best served by simply moving the domain to another server.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Hello Thatrobyn,
thank you for answering. What I want to do is to transfert it to wordpress.org but i need to be hosted on another hosting. I also want to keep my dress as http://www.rachelsdirtysecrets.com I already did some modification and to be honest i don’t know what im doing. I dont mind loosing my content because there is almost nothing. I Changed the name of my adresses thinking it will leave Rachelsdirtysecrets.com available so i can purchase it with another host but it didn’t work either. IM COMPLETELY LOST AND I NEED HELP :S
-
Rachel, I can definitely help :)
First, did you know you can leave your domain here (especially since you paid for it recently!) and we can help you “point” it at your new WordPress.org site? So, you can still use the same custom domain name (rachelsdirtysecrets.com) with your new site, even thought the domain is hosted here. What you will do is change the name servers for your domain (here) to direct to the server where your website is hosted.
Those instructions are here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/Next, if you want, you definitely can transfer it to another server. Do you already have hosting set up with an outside server? If not, you should set that up first. There will be instructions on their end about how to transfer the domain to them.
Once you have those, you can start the ball rolling here:
https://rachelkristel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=domains
Click Edit Domain.
You will see the message: “Please note that due to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) you may not transfer your domain name to a new registrar within the first 60 days after initial registration, or the first 60 days after a transfer.”
You are quite close to your 60 days being over (on March 26, 2015). Once that day arrives, you can go to the link I’ve given you, unlock your domain for transfer, then request a transfer code. Once that’s done, you’ll follow the instructions on the email you receive.
Once you decide which road to take, you can start the process…and if you get stuck along the way, just drop me a note, and I can help you further!

Thanks for answering, now i have another problem. When i was trying a few things because i was lost i changed the name of my dress for another one thinking it will let rachelsdirtysecrets.com available for me to buy it on another hosting but now it seems like i can’t have it back. Is there something i can do please ??

Rachel,
I don’t understand the question. You still own rachelsdirtysecrets.com — it can be seen here:
https://rachelkristel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domainsCould you explain your question further? Thanks.

here is what it appear on my screen, also can i only have one dress and blog, its too confusing on name of the blog i see: rachelsdirtysecrets.com but under dress the name is changed
-
Rachel,
here is what it appear on my screen
If you want me to see a screenshot of what you’re seeing on your screen, you must upload the image to your media library so I can view it. Just let me know when the image is there, and I’ll take a look.
also can i only have one dress and blog
You can have as many addresses and blogs as you wish. Did you want to register a new blog? If so, you can do so here:
en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/#adding-new-site to-an-existing-account
rachelsdirtysecrets.com but under dress the name is changed
I think you may be asking about why you see your WordPress.com site name (rachelkristel.wordpress.com) in addition to your custom domain (rachelsdirtysecrets.com). Is this correct?
If so, this may help:

Hey there!
Great, so now you can transfer your domain to your new host:
Once that domain is transferred, you will be able to log into your .org site.
Let me know if I can help with this at all.
You’re also welcome to change the name servers of your domain (here), so your domain “points” to your new site. This would also work:
You can choose either option, and it’ll work out how you want with your .org site.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers!

Thank you Robyn

Hey there!
There are a couple issues happening:
i transferred my domain, i got my code by email.
You haven’t finished transferring your domain. It is still here at WordPress.com. You need to transfer it to your new host, still. Can you please check with your new domain host, and ask what you need to do to complete the transfer? We’ve accepted the transfer here…after you hear from them, let me know if there’s anything you need assistance with, on our end.
I say that because if I modify some things with wordprtess. com and then i go on my website http://www.rachelsdirtysecrets.com I dont see them so i guess im still arriving on my wordpress.com
First, you are arriving back at WordPress.com because you haven’t transferred your domain yet.
Next, when you do transfer your domain, you won’t have to log into WordPress.com at all. You will be logging into your self-hosted site, posting there, and then your site will be visible at http://rachelsdirtysecrets.com/.
Please let me know when you’ve spoken to your new domain registrar, and cleared up any issues with your transfer. Thank you.

HI thanks for your help
now i just need my website file and database because when i export my content it only gives me an xml folder
-
Hi Rachel,
On WordPress.com we don’t provide back-end access to site files. In setting up a self-hosted site running the WordPress.org software, a database should been created by your hosting service, or you may have done it yourself during the Famouse Five Minute Install.
Most everything you’ve added to your site is available for the WordPress importer in the XML file.
Just follow the instructions here for the Importer on your self-hosted site:
You can find information on imports at WordPress.org as well:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Importing_Content
This will transfer over your posts, pages, comments and attached media.
