How can I change a blog post's default thumbnail image?
-
Hi, this question is for the blog http://www.closetrun.com. I recently noticed that the images that show up as the default thumbnail on my posts are a random image from the post. Is there a way that I can choose what image shows up when my blog post appears on wordpress? I know that choosing a featured image is an option, but I dislike having an image show on the top of the page and the title of the post after. Does this make sense?
Thanks for the help!

Hi Maria!
The featured image option is honestly the best way to accomplish this. Social networks select images in the order described here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#images-in-publicize
If a featured image is not set for a post and the post does not include a slideshow or gallery, social networks should pick the first prominent image within a post. The image will need to be a bit on the larger side (500 x 500 or so) to outrank other images on the page. Can you give that a try?
If you’re having trouble, point me to a specific post, and I’ll be happy to take a look!
