How can I change from .com hosting to .org?
-
My account was just set up for thekaybusexperience.com which appears to be hosted on the EXTREMELY limited .com side of WordPress. I need to get the account changed to the .org side as I am building a professional website for a corporation using an already purchased premium theme with a few dozen plugins.
Please help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
One cannot change where the account is registered by transfer. There is no such capability. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. Read the differences here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_PageSee here please http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/#change-name-servers-to-point-the-domain-outside-of-wordpress-com and here also http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/

Can I get a refund for the .com purchase yesterday then set up the account again with .org? I will handle the domain with godaddy.com.

The thing is that the ICANN waiting period for domain transfers to new registrars is 60 days.

Refunds are time limited. WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
See here:
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades
http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/Dashboard > Store > Billing History
http://en.support.wordpress.com/Billing-History/Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades
But do keep what I said above in mind. There is no guarantee that if you let the domain URL go that the registrar will make it available for registration again or any time soon. The can hold onto it or even auction it off.

Can you please clarify ICANN?
If you would like to transfer your domain to another registrar, you must wait 60 days from the purchase date or after changing the domain registrant’s Contact Information. This is standard across all registrars and is a rule set by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/cancel-domain/
That is why I posted http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/#change-name-servers-to-point-the-domain-outside-of-wordpress-com

We will simply have to choose a different domain. The blog-centric functionality of the .com side is perfectly worthless for the corporate website that is being designed. We cannot wait 60 days or use .com so the course has set itself. We will cancel the existing account then register directly with godaddy under a different domain.
