How can I change how posts are displayed in the Categories widget in Pilcrow?
-
I would like to change how posts in a category are displayed. I use the Pilcrow theme. Rather than entire posts showing when a category is clicked on, I would like just the title for each post to show, or maybe the title and the first few lines. The way it is now makes it hard for someone poking around my site to find posts listed under certain categories, as they have to read or scroll through entire posts to get to the next one. Is there an easy way to change this?

Hi there – The way the category archives display is a function of the theme, and it’s not possible to change that.
You can use the More tag to split your content, but this will display excerpts on your main page as well:
More TagSome themes display summaries or titles in category archives rather than full posts. Here are a couple I know of that are similar in layout to Pilcrow, you could preview them and see what you think:

Thanks for much for the help, I will check out the other themes and see how they look. I’ve only ever used Pilcrow, so it may take some courage to change! But I really don’t like the way the posts are listed, it makes it very hard to just poke around and see what might be interesting. Nobody is going to scroll through post after post. Cheers, Mo
