How can I change my account username so that the entire link is changed?

  Hi,
  I am trying to change my username from chimerastorm.wordpress.com to another name but every time I try and change the chimerastorm part, I get a message telling me that the name I’m trying to use isn’t available.
  However I know it’s not available because I used to have the name I’m trying to use on a totally separate account that has since been renamed to free-up the username I want to use.

  Wow that was a huge ramble. Hopefully it made sense!
  So.
  I need to know how to change my username when it tells me it’s not available when the new name is available?

  (putting in the new name as _____.wordpress.com comes up with “this page does not exist” so it’s definitely not there.)

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hey @chimerastorm!

  Can you clarify what you’re wanting to change? Are you wanting to change your username or your domain name?

  If you have changed your username previously, you cannot get the former username back.

  Take a look at this article. Maybe it will help you out in the meantime.

  Hi!

  I’m wanting to change the name so instead of reading ChimeraStorm.wordpress.com it reads newname.wordpress.com

  But when I go to change the ChimeraStorm part it tells me that the name is not available.

  The name I’m wanting to use is one I had used on an old blog that is totally separate from this one.
  I’ve gone to that old blog, changes the name there and told it to delete the old name/link/whatever so it’s freed up the name for me to use here.

  Going to the old address gives me a “page not found” message so I know it’s not in use.
  I’m trying to change it so it marries up with another site I use if that makes sense!

  I hate to be the bearer of bad news but once you change a site address you cannot get it back.

  I’ve gone to that old blog, changes the name there and told it to delete the old name/link/whatever so it’s freed up the name for me to use here.

  When you deleted the address in an attempt to “free it up” you effectively obliterated it from ever being used again.

  Sorry!
