How can I change my blog-address?
-
I would like to change the name address of my blog. When signing up I was told I could change it later but I can’t find out how.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I found out how to change my blog-address but now I’ve got a different problem. I must have made a mistake and put a tick in the wrong place. Because now I can’t get back my old address.
What can I do? -
I’m sorry but you cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

Thank you for your answer. That means I have to go to another webhoster if I want the old name for my website. Too bad :-(
I don’t really understand your rule. I found the explanation not quite clear when I deleted my url and I did it because I wanted to solve another problem I couldn’t find any help about.

Too bad. If I could use other signs in the name except letters and numbers I could find another possibility …
I think it would be good to make the problem clearer in the explanation you get when you change the URL.

To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog to delete the blog.
To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given throughout the process that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible.
Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once you do that the blog URL is gone forever.

7. The final option presented on this screen allows you to discard your current address. This option will permanently disable the address and you will not be able to reuse it. Only select this option if you are sure you will not use the address again. If you want to redirect traffic to the new blog, you can keep the address and purchase the Site Redirect upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

For me it was not clear that I can’t get back the URL at all. I was confused because I was asked and thought it was necessary to choose ist. I’m not a native English speaker, by the way. Maybe that added to the confusion.
So, IF I get a domain for a year, could I keep the name if I went back to the free version?

What part of this are you not getting?
I’m sorry but you cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. They never become available again for registration. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

This part:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/register-domain/That sounds to me that if I get a domain I can get that name back.
But I get it now.
Thank you very much. -
Let me make another suggestion:
This explanation http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
is clear.
As far as I remember there was neither link to it in the explanation nor in the e-mail I got. Might be a good idea to put it there. :-)
