How can I change my home page layout from my archives layout?

  My home page is awesome and customised and I love it and don’t want to change it, but if someone clicks on a post of mine or does a search or something, I’d like to remove the stuff I have on the side of my post – like all my widgets and stuff. I cant get my head around what to do in this area to make it up and since my webpage is up and running, I don’t want to completely put it in meltdown right now. Any ideas?
