How can I change my site description?
-
When I send my site link to people using Facebook messenger, the site description that pops up is out-dated and I’d like to change it but I don’t know how. Can someone help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello @chrissiehart!
From your Dashboard, go to Settings>General.
The second entry is ‘Tagline’. Edit the text on that box, then click the Save Changes button on the bottom left of the page.
Now the site description should be updated.Let me know how it goes! Thanks :)

Hi, thanks. Yes I have an accurate description written in the ‘Tagline’. The problem is when I use Facebook messenger. If I send the link http://www.chrissiehart.com , then a description pops up that is outdated. Any thoughts?

Hi there!
The tagline appearing on my FB while sharing your website is “Chrissie Hart is a professional Jazz and Pop vocalist and pianist currently working in Japan.”
It’s the correct one, isn’t it?
If that’s not appearing when you share your URL on Facebook, it might be a cache problem. Can you try to clear your browser cache and see what happens?Let me know if something changes. Thanks!

Right, that is the outdated tagline. I am not in Japan now. Any ideas about how to change this?

My current tagline that I have written in the tagline box is: Chrissie Hart is a professional pianist and vocalist who contracts internationally to hotels and cruise lines.

Hi there,
Thanks for this clarification.
I’m tagging this thread to Staff attention as there’s something I’m missing out. The tagline is updated on https://chrissiehart.wordpress.com/ while it hasn’t been updated yet on http://www.chrissiehart.com/.
I tried to figure this problem out but it looks like it’s something I can’t find an answer by myself, I’m sorry!Someone from the Staff will get in touch with you soon. Meanwhile, please be patient. Thanks and have a great day :)

Hello chrissiehart!
It looks like it’s not the same site, your domain “chrissiehart.com” is not pointing to your WordPress.com site, at “chrissiehart.wordpress.com”. You can see that below, where it says “Name Servers”:
https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=chrissiehart.com
It’s pointing to GoDaddy servers. Your site at WordPress.com have the correct tagline and if you try to post on Facebook it will load correctly. To use a custom domain on your WordPress.com site, you need to have a Domain Mapping Upgrade. You can check more information on the link below:

Hi @nsimau009,
From your Dashboard, go to My Blogs. Hover the blog you want to change the address and some options will appear. Click ‘Change Blog Address ‘ and follow the instructions on the page.
Please note that once changed, that website’s original WordPress.com URL will become permanently unavailable for future use. If you think that you might need that URL again in the future, you may want to create a new site instead of changing your current site’s name. You can move all your content from this current website to the new one, in case you decide to create another website.
For future reference, if you need to ask anything else here on the forum you’re welcome to open a fresh new thread: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1
This way it’d be easier to everyone to find and answer the questions. Thanks! If you have any other questions, please let me know.
