How can I change my wordpress.com blog to a wordpress.ORG account?
-
I recently signed up for a blog through wordpress.com, and then paid the $99 Premium upgrade, thinking that was the same thing as the wordpress.org option. I plan to host through BlueHost. I want to have a .org account instead, but am worried I’ll lose my blog name in the process. I would also like the $99 credited back to me. I don’t have any important content to transfer, just want to switch over and keep my name. Could someone help me do this please? Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi!
First, I have refunded the $99 charge to your account. The funds should be available within the next several days. I’ve also removed the Premium bundle from your account.
When you say “I’m worried I’ll lose my blog name in the process,” are you referring to livingbythec.com? If so, that domain isn’t registered at WordPress.com, just mapped to your WordPress.com site. It looks like it’s registered at Fast Domains. Do you remember registering it there?

Thank you for the quick and hassle-free refund! :)
I registered through Bluehost, but I believe that was via Fast Domains? I also went to Bluehost and did the install, and am attempting to log in to my “new” wordpress.org account. It says I am unable to, but I have made sure my DNS are Bluehost’s default name servers. Still cant access it with my temporary username/password given to me after the install. I’m not sure what else I might be doing incorrectly.
I thought it might be simpler for me to completely delete my current wordpress.com site, as that would simplify things (at least in my mind). I don’t have anything of importance content-wise on my site yet, so no need to transfer anything. I would then just start fresh with .org, again with the ‘livingbythec” address. But in taking the steps to do that, I came across something that said:
“I want to permanently remove livingbythec.wordpress.com and I am aware I can never get its content or its address back.
All of my posts, images, data, and this site’s address (livingbythec.wordpress.com) will be gone forever.”This was my cause for concern, and I know I might just be misunderstanding the wordpress .com/.org relationship. But I just want to be sure I’m taking the proper steps before doing anything I can’t undo.

Definitely! To recap, the site livingbythec.com is completely separate from your WordPress.com site livingbythec.wordpress.com. Deleting the latter will have no effect on the former. You’ll just lose the ability to use the URL livingbythec.wordpress.com.
Can you try logging in at livingbythec.com/wp-admin? It looks like the login form is up and running. If you’re still having trouble, you may want to reach out to Bluehost. I’m afraid I can’t help very much with self-hosted sites (I don’t have access to the site).
