How can I change the categories order in my home page?

Hi all
I am trying really hard to find a solution to this issue, yet nothing found. I need to change the categories order in my home page so that it won’t be automaticly in an alphabetical order. Is that possible? In my case, I need the “Paintings” to be before the “Drawings” category, & also that, for example, “Paintings 2008” will be before “Paintings 2007” & so on.
Can someone help me???

As far as I know, you can force a different sort order on Pages, but not Categories.

The only ways I can think of are:
categories can be numbered
“1 Painting” and “2 Drawing” then make child categories “1 Paintings 2008” “2 Paintings 2007” etc.
Or
experiment with using the uppercase symbols (or punctuation) in front of each category:
! @ # $ % ^ & * ( )
Or
insert a blank space (or several blanks)
CATEGORY NAME or CATEGORY NAME
or a combination of the above. -

Did you figure it out yet? Otherwise, how about changing Paintings to Artwork – Paintings? And can anybody tell me how to delete a category? I’ll keep looking through “Help” but so far haven’t figured it out (but then, I’m kinda new). My blog: herbsandanimals.wordpress.com Thanks! Leta
