how can i change the landing page subscribers recieve
-
Once people subscribe to my blog they receive a conformation email. Once they click confirm I would like for them not to be redirected to wordpress.com via pop up where a page with their wordpress subscriptions shows up, as a majority of my followers are not tech savvy and this may cause a lot of confusion. Is it possible to just have the following “you have successfully confirmed your subscription and are now subscribed” email sent without the website popping up?
I haven’t been able to find a way to customize the subscription process and this is why I am asking.
Thank you very much. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
The notification email doesn’t require your new followers to click a confirmation button. The only button to press is Manage Subscriptions (which it sounds like your followers are doing). This button takes them to the page to manage the sites they follow. There is also a link to unsubscribe.
But no confirmation button!
The text reads:
Congratulations, you are now subscribed to the site YOUR SITE NAME (http://YOUR-URL.com/) and will receive an email notification when a new post is made.
The links I mentioned above appear under this text. I’m afraid if the followers click on the Manage Subscriptions button, they will have to be taken to the corresponding page.
If you would like to change the outgoing message in order to personalize the text of the note, you can do so here:
https://leshmotahava.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.phpScroll down to “Blog follow email text.” Change the content as you like, then save the changes.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!

Hi Robyn,
Thanks for the help. :)
It seems that I may have explained myself incorrectly. The email you’re referring too, where there is a “Manage Subscriptions” button is the SECOND email they receive.
They only receive that email after they receive the initial one which has a “confirm subscription” button which once clicked automatically adds them to the mailing list while also popping up a window (www.subscribe.wordpress.com/etc…) on their browser. I would like to not have this window pop up on their browser as I fear it may cause confusion.
Also is it possible to have a place where users who sign up for the mailing list also enter their names so I can recognize them more easily?
Thank you so much for the support! -
Hi again!
I see. You’re referring specifically to the Follow button that non-WordPress.com users (or users that are not signed into WordPress.com) can click to add their address and follow your site. This is located at the bottom of you website.
I apologize, as I thought you were referring to the Follow button that appears at the top of the page for logged-in WordPress.com users. Those folks receive the email I mentioned first.
There isn’t a way to adjust the confirmation link in the email you mentioned.
Unfortunately, in order to protect potential followers from being added to mailing lists without their knowledge, or consent, we need them to click that button.
Once they confirm, it’s necessary for them to see their subscription options, as the majority of subscribers to WordPress.com sites want control over these settings.
Again, the best option I can offer is to change your outgoing message, or…
You could hide the button at the bottom of your page, but add a Follow widget to your sidebar. The follow widget will still send the same type of email to those who opt to subscribe to your blog, however, you can add even more text BEFORE the person clicks the button…so you’re doubling up on the explanation of where they are being sent when they receive their confirmation email and click the confirm button.
If you want to hide the bottom Follow popup, you can change your settings here:
https://leshmotahava.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php
SImply de-select “Show follow button to logged out users” and then save your changes. To add a Follow blog widget to your sidebar, with more explanatory text:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/Sorry I can’t help exactly as you wanted, but I hope this solution and explanation assist you a bit!
Thank you again.

Hi Rachel,
Is it possible to change something after sending? Can I be sure that it would not be send again as a new post to my subscribers?
Sure thing! You can always edit posts after they are published and sent to your subscribers. Your posts are only sent to your subscribers the first time they are published, so if you edit the post afterward it won’t be sent out again.
If you ever want to send out a post again (for example, if you want to highlight a correction you made to the post) you can delete the first post you published and create it again as an entirely new post. When you publish the new post, it will be sent out to your subscribers.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Thanks! I tried it and you were right! J
I sent you additional question: the list of “last comments” is limited now to up to 15. Since we have a wonderful dialog between the readers, I woner if you can allow to have more comments on this section– 20-25. Is it possible?
It will be a great help!
Thanks and be well.
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
I’m glad that worked for you. :)

The Recent Comments Widget has a maximum of 15 comments. There isn’t a way to display more than that, but I can let our developers know that’s something you are interested in, in case that can be changed in the future.

Thank you! It seems to be a small change but with a great improvement J

Hello,
I’m still interested in showing more than 15 comments on the home page of the blog. Is it possible that the developer will make a change in the program, and allow more comments?
It will make me, and probably many other customers, very happy J
Thanks!
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
I forwarded your suggestion to our developers so they can consider changing it in the future, but there aren’t any immediate plans to change how many comments can appear in that widget.
