When you’re editing a post there’s an option to change the date. After you have the date you want, save and Update the post. That’s pretty much it.

If you change the date / time of a published post, then it will show in google and other search engines as a “404 not found” link.
WordPress.com links to posts include the date (time) of posts so if you edit those links, then the old ones (the original links with the original time) will be indexed for folks to find. But nothing will be there: editing dates makes search engines unaware of your changes.
If you want to have a list of your posts in sequential order you could use a custom menu widget in your sidebar. Links to “introduction” “part 1” part 2 etc.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/write-a-book/A blog is, essentially, a reverse chronological publishing tool. There are ways to use a blog to post long-form pieces in chapters, however, though it will require a bit of work.
A static front page is not good for SEO. That’s why I recommended the menu widget.
