How can I change the size of the video rame in playback?
-
There are a number of unanswered questions related to video size in the forums–how can I reduce the size of the playback frame from the default which seems to be about 1/4 screen? I’d like it to be smaller, say 160×120 pixels. Thanks.

Hi there – you should be able to modify the width of the player in the shortcode like this:
[wpvideo xxxxxxx w=160]Just let me know if this doesn’t work for you, with a link to the post or page in question so I can take a look. Thanks!

Kathryn, that seems to have done the trick–here’s a link:

Glad you sorted out the sizing!

I don’t think it’s possible to do what you’re after. If you showed me an example of what you mean on another site I might be able to give you a more definitive answer. :-)

Kathryn, sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I guess I can’t really show a website that does what I’m asking–just I know that on a desktop if you click on a video it will open your default player, e.g. quicktime or Windows media, and those players usually can be relocated elsewhere. As you might be able to see from the page, I’d like to be able to have people watch the video while scrolling the text and reading along. May be undoable. Thanks!

You can certainly provide a link to a video that will open in a user’s default video player.
For example:
Watch the videoReplace http://path-to-video.mp4 with the actual full path to the video.
Most folks prefer to have the video player embedded on their site because it provides a more consistent viewing experience and also keeps people on your site – but if you want to have folks watch the video in a separate player, this is one option. Doing it this way, you would have no control over which type of player a viewer will use to watch your video. It may be a standalone player, or it may open in a blank browser window, depending on the viewer’s setup.

Kathryn, thanks–I’ll give it a try. I guess one could also do both and give the viewer the option. Take care.
