How can I change the text in my sidebar, please?

  sadly the information on adding text to a sidebar with a widget made no sense to me at all. Although I appear successfully to have changed my avatar in my sidebar. I’m sorry about this. I have text there. I want to change it. Please point me at the place I need to go to do this.

  Thank you for your input, Timethief. My gravatar page is correct. But that seems to be completely separate from the sidebar on my actual blog. At some point I have obviously been au fait with wordpress systems to the extent that the right picture is on the sidebar. However, the text needs updating, and there is something hinky about the FB link. I can find no reference to ‘sidebar’ that will take me there. I’m beginning to think it is not a widget I need after all. Perhaps wordpress now only permit updates to sidebars if one is using the professional version? It is a mystery to me. If it is comprehensible to you I would be grateful for an insights.

  Aha! I see now. Thank you Timethief and Titanas. It was the ‘appearance’ section of my dashboard that I needed, not ‘appearance’ in the widget help section. I’ve bookmarked it now. It is a page as fleeting as Brigadoon on this computer.
