How can I clear this profile of its contents myself?

I really just want to clear it and to start afresh while still keeping my address.

Go to http://mldlkg.wordpress.com/wp-admin/. Then, in the admin menu on the left side of the page, click on “tools” and then select “delete site”. On the “delete site” page there is a drop down menu the option you’re looking for.

Deleting a blog is forever and you will never get it back! -
Please, do not follow the advice given by jennyarnez unless you want to loose the url of your site. WordPress does not recycle blog names. If you delete the site as she said, it will be gone forever.

Yes, that is true but there have been quite a few folks who don’t understand the differences and end up being very sad to have made the wrong choice.

Also note that the site is question is essentially already empty—only a tagline, and possibly drafts for posts, pages, and items in the media library. It’s much faster for the OP to take the do-it-yourself method than to wait for staff to see it.

Thanks, Tess, for the clarification. I was referring to the option that says “empty my site of all content”. I obviously have misunderstood what that means.
So I understand in the future, what does that menu option mean?

It means that staff will empty a site of content, but most people here are volunteers and we cannot do that: it is much faster for a user to simple do it themselves. In this case, the site appears to be empty already though there may be drafts or things in the media library or inactive widgets so with the link I gave, they can do it immediately.
Also, it’s better to be clear and quote exactly the choice:
Empty my site of all content
I say that because some forum users do not speak English as a native language and it is too easy to misread and do something that cannot be undone. Maybe that is over cautious, but there are so many folks who come back and say, “but I want my url / name back”
