  How can I close my current WordPress account and start over with a new WordPress.com address and a new username? Thank you.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  Can you tell me a bit more about exactly what you want to do? If you want a different username you can just change it from your account settings:

  https://wordpress.com/me/account/

  The old username will be discarded and will cease to exist, and no one will be able to use it again.

  Likewise you can just delete your current site and start a new one, or you can change your site’s address. You can find both options under My Site ->Settings.

  Thanks for your replies, catkiinson and kokkieh.

  Last week I successfully deactivated my (free) account Onion Creek Kids, onioncreekkids.wordpress.com, but not before I attempted to change my Site Title and username. I was able to change my username to samanthamalay.wordpress.com, but was unable to change my Site Title to Samantha Malay. So I opened a new (paid) WordPress account, Thistle and Hasp, thistleandhasp.wordpress.com, with a new email address. What I would like to do is import my second former username, samanthamalay.wordpress.com, to my current account. I don’t want to lose access to “samanthamalay.wordpress.com” by discarding it.

  Hi Samantha –

  Thanks for explaining the situation. Yes, you can transfer samanthamalay.wordpress.com, to your new user account so that it’s still accessible to you.

  You’ll need to sign in to the old account to activate the process (it’s the account you are signed in to here, so you should still have access).

  Just to clarify, you can transfer an active site to an active username. You’ll want to avoid closing the site or the name until everything is settled and sorted.

  Once you’ve closed a site or account, they will not be retrievable or reusable after 30 days. If you need more help, let us know.
