How can I copy or where can I find the html and CSS for the Sandbox theme?
-
None of the templates are working for me, so I want to start from scratch with the Sandbox theme. However, 1. I can’t tolerate the tiny little box on the bottom of my screen and the constant scrolling up and down to find what I’m looking for. 2. There’s so much extra commentary that it’s extremely hard to isolate what I need. 3. I don’t like to edit my pages live and it’s unreasonable to style a whole page before I can test it once.
I’m not interested in changing the html; I just want to be able to look at all of it at once and see what happens with each edit. I’m very used to working in Dreamweaver; WordPress’s interface (or, rather, my browser’s) is just too frustrating.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you are looking to download and modify the Sandbox theme offline, that isn’t possible with WordPress.com themes. However, I have a suggestion that might help, two actually.
While you are working on getting your theme/CSS looking that way you like, you might consider:
1. Setting your site to private.
or
2. Setting up a private “test” site just to mess around and test things.
Let me know if either of those would suit what you are trying to do. If not, we can try and work out the issues you are facing.

By setting up a private site, do you mean start another blog set to private and, using the sandbox theme, make all my edits, then copy my CSS and paste it to my public site? That’s a good idea, but if I start another blog/site, do I have to pay for another copy of sandbox, or does my customization upgrade work for a second site? Obviously, I wouldn’t want to pay $30 just to redesign. I know I could buy it, do my stuff, then get a refund, but that sounds like a lot of extra hassle.

Well, what you could do is to start a new site, I could transfer your custom design upgrade to it for the duration of your testing, then we could transfer it back to your current site when you are satisfied with your CSS modifications.
If that makes sense. Let me know if it does not.

That’s very kind of you and I do appreciate the effort you’re putting into trying to accommodate my wishes. I have spent easily a dozen hours first trying to fit my vision for my site into one of your 217 templates, and then, when that proved impossible, I spent another dozen hours trying to get one to work with whatever modifications I was able to make with the upgrage You can probably tell that I’ve changed templates on an almost daily basis. So, thank you, no, I wouldn’t want to try to live with one of WordPress’s uncustomized templates again for even a minute, much less the several days it would take me to redesign and retest the site (I know CSS, but I don’t think like a coder, so it takes me a lot of fumbling to get what I want.) I think I’ll live with what I have now and when I have the rights to my url, I’ll move the site. Thank you again, rootjosh, for all your help.

Not a problem, happy to help.
Do keep in mind that you do not need to wait for the 60 ICANN domain “waiting period” to end in order to move to a self hosted WordPress site. You can point your domain to your new webhost by changing its nameservers per these instructions:
Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

Sorry, that way “60 day ICANN waiting period”. Sometimes my fingers work faster than my brain.
