How can I correct my upcoming renewal?

  • Unknown's avatar

Understanding what I’m doing on WordPress.com is a very slow gradual process. One example: I now think I paid a “premium” for my main blog, when I didn’t need to. I don’t want to make the same mistake upon renewal in April. I’m not at all looking for a refund — just want to make sure in future I renew the blog correctly. How can I correct my renewal? Here’s the dashboard page….

P.S. I still find WordPress fantastically helpful and have convinced people to blog, using it : e.g. edonthelam.com :-)

    Hi there!

After looking into your account, I found that the auto-renewal for the Premium upgrade on https://thinkinganddreamingca.wordpress.com has been disabled so you will not be charged going forward.

However, I do see that you added Domain Mapping upgrade which was bundled in with Premium. Would you like me to remove all the upgrades of Premium, except for the domain mapping? That means you would just have to pay $13 in April for the domain mapping renewal.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Thanks! What a relief! So just to make sure I understand what’s changing: I’ll be able to continue with my blog, and people will still be able to find it at http://www.thinkinganddreaming.ca? I’ll now just have a regular charge, as there were no “upgrades”? In other words, to my handful of ‘followers’, nothing will have changed?
I’ll keep checking and when the amount has changed, I’ll choose “Enable auto renew” to make sure everything continues as normal :-)
    Thanks very much!

Yes, your site can still be found at http://www.thinkinganddreaming.ca and nothing will change in terms of followers or the site content.

However, any customizations you added like custom fonts/colors or CSS will be removed. If you are okay with this please reply to confirm!

Yes, no problem. I’m happy with ‘plain old’ Twenty Ten etc…. WordPress seems to offer plenty of choices without needing Premium upgrades :-)

Alrighty :) Sounds great! I have removed the Premium upgrades except for the Domain Mapping. So now you can renew just the domain mapping for $13 come April!

    Cheers!
