Add topic to favorites
In my ”About” page, I’d like to create an email link for people to email me. I know about contact forms, but I’d like an email link (and not an email widget).

Its simple, click my dashboard – blogroll – add link – fill in the address = mailto:(email visible only to moderators and staff) and you can set by categories ( see on the right panel when u add link ) also you can add categories created by u self. for sample see my indonesian blogger http://forumws.wordpress.com

@forumws: I didn’t want to add it in my blogroll, but w/e. I have an idea. If it doesn’t work, I’ll use a contact form.

I have the same problem the link function just allows websites but I have a list of people who would like live links to their email – did you resolve it in the end?

As per teh faq up a few posts, a mailto tag should work fine.
