How can I delete a site that was set up by an old employee?

I need to delete a wordpress.com site that an old employee set up. I don’t know the log in information, but it is representing my company and I want it deleted as I have spent a bunch of $ making a new site

If the old employee did not give you the log in details, and nobody in your IT department can suss them out, you will have to be stuck just trying to outrank the old site on Google. It shouldn’t be hard, as the old one isn’t being updated (presumably) and the new one should outrank it quickly as you add posts and information to it.

Really? I already outrank it… I have changed the name and rebranded… but it still comes up on the first page of search results. It seems like wordpress should be able to delete it if I can prove that I am the owner no?

If you could prove you were the site owner, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. They will not necessarily delete something just because you own the company a blog is about.

I guess that makes sense…. it was being used as a company website… I own the company… but I guess that is a blog? forgive my ignorance as I am not a big wordpress guy

Don’t suppose their is a way to figure out what email is attached to the site? Hopefully get a response that way..

Presumably someone at your company knows the ex-employee’s corporate email and has access?

WordPress.COM won’t give you the email address of a blog owner – one of those little things called Privacy –
If you company keeps old email accounts alive after an employee leaves (this assumes they did not leave in a huff over something & changed the email for the blog) – try leaving a comment on the blog or if there is a contact form, leave a generic please contact you message and see what happens – I have seen that happen for a few other blogs
