How can I delete categories?

    In my blog, I created a new category, Africa, and a number of sub-categories: My African life, British politics in Kenya, Colonial oppression, Kenya politics, Politics of land. Without my having done anything, the sub-categories jumped into the top level of the hierarchy and appeared at the bottom of the list in the “edit” interface. In the public interface, they disappeared. I’ve also noticed a minor spelling error in one of them. So my question, in detail is: Either, how can I delete the ones that don’t show up right? Or, how can I edit them, and get them back where they belong in the hierarchy?

    You can edit or delete categories via Posts -> Categories in your blog’s Dashboard.

    Please note that you cannot delete the Default Category, set via Settings -> Reading in your blog’s Dashboard.
