How can I delete my account instead just leaving in hanging in there?

    I really want to delete my whole account and not just leave it inactive. I also think I have made an other account previously because everytime I leave a comment to a WordPress I have this tiny avatar (pic of my pet, ha) on the right side of the message even though I’m not logged in to a WordPress and it’s really annoying since I can’t remember what account that is.

    Sorry if this sounds unclear. And I appreciate all help, thanks.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

    1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

    2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
    http://wordpress.com/#!/following/subsettings/

    3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

    I also don’t want my account to continue existing in any way. Since I did not associate my name or identifying email or URL with my profile/account there is no way I could be impersonated. I simply demand they delete my account completely. You cannot say with any accuracy or veracity that keeping my account is somehow more secure than deleting it completely from your servers. Delete it now, delete it for good, or face a formal lawsuit. You cannot legally keep personal information, even if your “policy” states you can. That is only a statement of your policy, not a statement of what is legally allowed. You are not legally allowed to keep my personal information or account information when I’ve formally requested it be removed.

    You are dead wrong. You can make all the demands you wish. The only options open to you have been presented above. There are no exceptions made.

    @timethief,
    I may be confused, but because gravatar is now associated with automatic, would not a person have to do something similar there to delete all personal association with their email/account?
    Maybe I’m just curious…

    @Tess
    A WordPress.com account and a Gravatar account have always been one in the same. http://blog.gravatar.com/2013/04/03/gravatar-and-wordpress-com-together-forever/
