How Can I Delete 'Primary Site' and Change Username in Account Settings?

  I’m no longer associated with the primary site I originally listed and want to delete it from the ‘Primary Site’ in my Account Settings. Searching for an answer hasn’t yielded an answer. Also, I’d like to change my user name. Can that be done?

  Hello @old7bag
  1. To change your Primary Site:
  • Go here: https://wordpress.com/me/account
  • From the Primary Site dropdown menu select your desired site.
  • Click Save Account Settings.

  2. To delete your old Primary Site:
  • Go here: http://wordpress.com/sites
  • Select your old primary site from the site list.
  • And then follow this official support guide to delete that site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

  NOTE: Deleting a site will delete all the contents associated with that site, which cannot be recovered and the address associated with the deleted site cannot be used by anyone again(not even by the owner).

  3. To change the Username:
  There are two things to consider while changing the handle:
  there is a Public Display name(visible to users) and there is your actual username.

  TO CHANGE THE PUBLIC DISPLAY NAME:
  You can change your username from the ME section of your dashboard.
  Click on your profile picture on the top right corner or just click here: https://wordpress.com/me, to go to the me section. Now change the value of the Public Display Name field to update your username. And click Save Profile Details to save the changes.
