How can I disable comments to images in illustratr theme?
-
I’m building my site and see the option to leave comments on individual photos. I’d like to disable this. I’m using the illustratr theme. Any suggestions?
My site is currently private but here is the url http://angiebrooksbyarcangioli.com
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thank you, timetheif. I’ve looked through the forums and see that many don’t want comments on their images I even downloaded a plugin, but I can’t install it. I looked through that forum discussion already.
I’ve already uploaded lots of images and just tried uploading more selecting the different options, none, attachment page, etc. I want my visitors to be able to view my images individually and see the details so attachment page and none are not an option.

Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. You are confusing WordPress.ORG and WordPress.COM. For that type of functionality you’d need a self-hosted site running on a paid web hosting service.

It’s in the carousel where I don’t want comments. I’ve already disabled comments on the portfolio.

Thank you again. I migrated to wordpress.com from my paid server because I wanted an easier platform. After years of building my website in dreamweaver, the html5 got too complicated.

While I wait, patiently, I’d also like to remove the ‘view full size’ in carousel for the same reasons eoron1 gives in this discussion:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/please-allow-us-to-disable-view-full-size-in-carousel
In the meanwhile.
I deselected the “Allow people to post comments on new articles” in the “Default article settings” then uploaded new images to a new project. When I viewed the carousel, the “post a comment” was not there. But this doesn’t resolve the problem for all the images I already loaded. And the “view full size image” option is still available even for the new images.

Hi there,
For images you already uploaded, you can disable comments from your site’s Media Library.
In the media library, you can click each image to bring up its settings. In the bottom right corner, you can click on “Edit more details” to get the full details for that image. Then, you can uncheck the box next to “Allow comments” for that image.

Hello Rachelmer, Thank you for your response. In the screen options for the images the comment box is not checked. Is there another place I should look? Or should I try take down then reload the each project.
-
Thanks for explaining what you see there. If the comment box is not checked in the screen options, you’ll need to check that box — that will show you the comment settings on that screen so you can edit them.

Rachelmcr,
Thank you. It works! For the comments but not for “show full screen view.” Any idea how to fix that?
I’ll explain what I did so others who have this problem in the future can see this thread.
1 Open the media library
2 Click on the individual media file to open edit options (each file must be individually edited)
3 click on screen options at the top of the screen
4 check the boxes “discussion” and “comments”
5 scroll down below the image
6 uncheck the “comments” box
7 click the “update” button on the right of the screenI took some screen shots and would include them if it was possible.

Hi there,

The “View Full Size” link in the carousel is always available — there isn’t a setting to turn that off. However, since you have WordPress.com Premium you can use Custom CSS to hide that link, instead. To remove just that link, you can use the CSS from this forum thread:
You can also find more CSS tips in our CSS Customization forum forum, including an alternate approach for removing that link with CSS:
If you’re concerned about image theft, I’d also recommend using some of the tips mentioned on our Prevent Content Theft page.

I was able to remove the view full size and the reblog link by adding the second code provided Jeremy Herve provided. Thank you!
