The images on my pages can be dragged onto a desktop of someone else’s computer. I need to find a way to disable it as they are for sale else where!

    Hi there,

There isn’t a way to adjust your settings on a WordPress.com site to keep visitors from saving images. The only deterrent I can suggest is to use a copyright line in the image’s caption, or in the site’s sidebar.

If maintaining your images’ security is a high priority to you, you may consider shifting to a self-hosted WordPress.org site. On self-hosted sites, you have the ability to add plugins which assist you in configuring this type of setting for your images.

If you aren’t familiar with the differences between WordPress.org and WordPress.com, this may help:

Please let us know if you have any other questions. I’m happy to help further. Thanks much!

Thanks, I’m going to try the copyright in my captions.
I’ve considered switching to the .org before, but it’s a little intimidating because I’m have almost no website designing experience. Is it tremendously difficult?

    Hey again!

Thanks, I’m going to try the copyright in my captions.

Many of my colleagues and I do this as well. If you need assistance at all, let us know!

It just takes a bit of time, and more elbow grease to get over the learning curves. The main ‘difficulty’ is that you don’t have access to the support staff here. However, the WordPress.org community has a busy forum filled with lots of experienced users. You might be able to find your answers there.

If you are curious about the transfer process, this guide will step you through moving your site to a WordPress.org instance:

As I mentioned, we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:

If you’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com site to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. Check it out to see if it’s right for you:

If I can address anything else, at all, let me know! Wishing you the best. Cheers :)
