How can I do this on my WordPress site?

I want to be able to have pages that are basically categories. On my front page, my homepage, I want the main categories in a menu. For example if science is a page in the menu on the homepage I want to be able to click on it and go to the science page with all my posts that are related to science and once on that science page I want there to be a separate menu, a different one with the subcategories or sub pages like sci-fi things like that. Basically instead of having categories in the main menu on my front page, I want there to be pages that you can click on to go to all of the related posts to that page. Basically instead of a category I wanted to be a page like a science page, a technology page, etc.

  • For ease of use and SEO it is recommended to be able to navigate to any main page on your site from any given page. This helps users return to old content and find new content without having to go through a maze of links. To my knowledge there is not a method for having specialized menus available on each different page.

With this said, you can create themed pages that will only contain posts relevant to their content:

I would suggest creating some custom menus to help organize your site (with main and sub pages, as you described). You can see the WordPress tutorial for that here:

I’m just afraid that categories will be discontinued by WordPress.

  • WordPress will always provide a means for you to organize your content. Why do you expect that this will be discontinued?

I am not sure, just worried i guess.
