How can I edit a blog post without it being resent?

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to be able to edit posts I have already sent without them being resent to my followers. I am in the process of moving back to WordPress.com after a spell with WordPress.org – and I remember having this problem, ie my subscribers were sent the same post they had already received every time I edited and clicked “Publish” (ie publish the edit).

Before I commit to migrating back to WordPress.com I want to be sure I will be able to accomplish this (being somewhat of a perfectionist I often like to come back to edit my previous work).

btw: Could you recommend a theme that is similar to the design and functionality of your WordPress.com support site? This is the feel and look I want to emulate with my new WordPress.com sites.

    Many thanks,

    Leo

So long as you’ve already published the post, editing it and clicking Update will make a change on your site but will not resend the post to your followers.

If you publish the post, then change its status to draft, then publish it again, that 2nd publish will get sent to followers.

Our support site does run on WordPress but it’s heavily customized and no theme we offer will totally get you there. Some themes closer to en.blog.wordpress.com would be:

    Twenty Fifteen
    Writr
    Wilson
    Delight

I’d also start with this search:
