How can I edit htaccess on a WordPress hosted site.
-
I have purchased and built a new website on an upgraded WordPress account. I want to 301 every post/page to the new domain. How would I go about doing this?

Hey there,
We can certainly redirect your WordPress.com domain to your self-hosted WordPress.org site’s domain. Here is information about our site redirect feature:
We don’t have a tool to create 301 redirects for your existing posts/pages. This is something that can be done with a plugin, though. I suggest take a look at this link that was updated recently to include some of the most popular 301 redirect plugins:

Thanks for the reply Robyn, however the site does not have a domain, rather the free account subdomain. Even after upgrading to the $99/year account we are unable to access those plugins and Htaccess files without buying a new domain.
We do not wish to buy a domain and have the content thats been generated over the past 5 years to have two redirects for SEO purposes.
Further more, we have imported all the content already to a new wordpress site and domain: http://www.brunerortho.com/ so we wish to 301 the old site’s pages to the new one to eliminate duplicative content.
Is there any way to 301 an xml file then re-import to brunerortho.wordpress.com?

Hello there,
Thanks so much for the additional information.
Is there any way to 301 an xml file then re-import to brunerortho.wordpress.com?
This isn’t possible.
I’m afraid without the site redirect from WordPress.com, you cannot gain the 301 redirect functionality you are requesting.
Sorry I can’t be of further help. Please do let me know if I can address any other issues for you.
