  Hello

  first of all, you have to be able to edit CSS of your theme by purchasing a wordpress.com premium plan.

  That’s valid for you other thread as well

  If you are already have a Premium Plan, the following code shoud do the trick (replace 000000 by the color you want):

  #searchform{
      background: #000000
  }

  @luxurytravelexpert, if you wish to change just the border color on the search box in your footer, you can use the following CSS

  #searchform {
      border: 1px solid #e64946;
  }
