How can I excise Google fonts from my blog/dashboard/etc.?
-
I want to remove all google fonts from my blog, even from the dashboards. How can I do this? The fact that google analytics run every time their fonts are called is unacceptable. I’d rather not have to host my own WordPress blog, but this is a big enough issue that I’d consider doing it. I don’t want google anywhere near my blog.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
If I understand correctly, you’re looking to remove all fonts that are accessible through Google Fonts from your blog. Is that correct? There isn’t a way to change Dashboard fonts without using a tool like Stylish:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/
However, with your blog, you can use the Custom Design upgrade to switch your blog fonts out for Typekit as explained here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#custom-fonts
Would that work for what you’re looking for?

Jeremy,
Thank you for getting back to me. I would be happy to purchase the upgrade to customize my fonts, but my concern is that if the dashboard still calls the Google fonts API, then that sort of defeats the purpose. It’s not on the client side that I want to remove the API calls; it’s on the server side. Is there any option to ensure that these API calls are not made so that there is no Google tracking of traffic on my blog? One of the reasons I left Blogger was to be rid of this kind of tracking.
Like I said, I’ll be happy to upgrade and customize my fonts, but if it’s not going to get rid of ALL calls to Google fonts, then that kind of defeats the purpose. Does that make sense? (I’m not a developer at all, so I may be getting some of my terms wrong).

On further investigation, it seems like this is only an issue when I am the one browsing through my blog, or perhaps another WP user. It would be a Very Nice Thing indeed to offer a Google-free version of the the dashboard and the bar at the top of the screen, but this is now more of a nice to have than a critical issue.
Thanks again!

Hi there,
Currently, that isn’t something that we offer. However, it may be something we pursue in the future.
Let me know if you need anything else!

Jeremy,
Thanks again-I appreciate your help. Please do consider offering something like that going forward. I know I’d pay extra for it.
Cheers,
