How can I exclude my ip address from the stats to ensure that I’m not recording my own visits to the site?
thanks

Your own visits are not counted if your blog is public. If your blog is private, then your visits will be included in the stats.

ah thank you! One of the reasons I asked is that recently I subscribed (paid) to Slideshare so I could get a better sense of my visitors and it was then I noticed my own IP was included so I asked them the same question and they told me that there is no way to exclude it. I’m not paying for that! So I’m delighted that WordPress does indeed exclude it.
Is it based on where I’m logged in from, so no matter where I log in, it recognises me and excludes me? That’s fantastic!

If you have more than one account, then your visits might be counted.
For example, I have a personal account and a business account with different email addresses and usernames. If I’m logged in with my personal account, then my visits will be recorded if I visit the business account. (I solved that by using one browser for personal and another for business; plus I made myself an author on both accounts so if I make a mistake and forget which browser I’m in my visits still won’t be counted.)But if you are logged in at the library, home, or a friend’s house with the account associated with http://suethomasnet.wordpress.com/ , then your visits will not be added to the stats total.

WordPress recognizes you via the email address you log in with.
If you have two different accounts, with two different email addresses it sees you as two different “people.”
