You can review WordPress.com’s export feature here:
You should be able to view an XML file in both Safari and TextEdit.

Yes, I can view the text of the blogs as an XML file in Safari – 791,656 words with no paragraph breaks of any kind, no styling and no photos. If you want to read that as a PDF showing what the original blog looked at, with no paragraph breaks of any kind, no styling and no photos, you are a better man than I am.See short 250 word excerpt below:
Fleming’s blog http://thejohnfleming.wordpress.com Does comedian Lewis Schaffer want to be very famous without being famous? http://thejohnfleming.wordpress.com/2014/01/01/does-comedian-lewis-schaffer-want-to-be-very-famous-without-being-famous/ Wed, 01 Jan 2014 11:00:56 +0000 thejohnfleming http://thejohnfleming.wordpress.com/?p=40056 [caption id="attachment_40064" align="alignright" width="300"]<img class=”size-medium wp-image-40064″ alt=”Last night: The worried man who is Lewis Schaffer” src=”http://thejohnfleming.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/lewisschaffer_sofa_31dec2013.jpg?w=300″ width=”300″ height=”214″ /> At my home last night: A worried man who is Lewis Schaffer[/caption] “This is the year I’ve gotten old,” Brian Simpson said to me last night – New Year’s Eve. “What is Lewis Schaffer going to do in 2014? What is Lewis Schaffer’s New Year’s resolution going to be?” “To be famous,” I suggested. Brian Simpson, from Brownhills in England’s West Midlands, is the character comedian who plays the part of American Lewis Schaffer on-stage (and now, most of the time, off-stage too). He spent New Year’s Eve at my home with me and my eternally-un-named friend. “2013 was the year Lewis Schaffer got old,” he repeated. “My hair went grey.” <span style=”line-height:1.7;”>“No it didn</span>’t,” said my eternally-un-named friend.
If I use TextEdit, at least it has paragraphs, but has no text styling and no photos.
I presume you are telling me it is not possible to download my Jan-Dec 2014 blog posts and make a PDF file so that it can be read by a human being?

The file that was created is meant to serve as a backup and to be imported into another content management system.
If you only want portable copies of a few Pages/Posts, you could use Safari to print the content to PDF:
If I’ve misunderstood the issue, or if you have any other questions, please let me know.

That at least allows me too download a small handful of individual blogs with the pictures and captions displaced, but am I correct in thinking that there is no way to download my Jan-Dec 2014 blog posts as they appear on the blog in a format that looks like what they look like on the original screen…
