How can I fix a text area inside of a form?
-
I’m having trouble getting the text area of a form to show properly. I create a form and set one of the fields to be a text area. But when it shows up on the display the text area is in line with the label rather than on another line like all the other form text entries. Looking at the code behind I noticed that the text area is inside of the <label..> tag. I would think this should be outside of it. How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Chris<label class=’textarea’>Comment<span>(required)</span> <textarea name=’64-comment’ id=’contact-form-comment-64-comment’ rows=’20’></textarea>
</label>

I noticed that if I change themes it doesn’t happen. Maybe its an issue with the theme , Motion, I’m using?

it’s possible that we could be stripping out some of the form code.
Have you tried using our Contact Form system instead? (it does more than just contact forms)

That’s what I’m using to add the contact form to my page. Below is the shortcode I’m using.
Thanks,
Chris‘[contact-form subject="Unite 4 Good Contributions"] [contact-field label="Name" type="name" required="true" /] [contact-field label="Email (only if your comment requires a response)" type="email" /] [contact-field label="What are you sending?" type="select" required="true" options="Good Read,Good Witnessed,Good Performed,Inspirational,Comments/Questions" /] [contact-field label="Website" type="url" /] [contact-field label="Your Location" type="text" /] [contact-field label="Comment" type="textarea" required="true" /] [/contact-form]‘

I tried that with no luck. If I change it from a TextArea then it works fine. For some reason when its a TextArea it is included in the Label tag.

Hm, when I visit your Contributions page, I see a text area under “Comments.” Were you able to fix this?
-
Well thats weird because I’m still seeing it. I’ve viewed it with Google Chrome and Internet Explorer with the same results.

I’m using Google Chrome. Could you try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies?

I’m also not having any trouble seeing it with Chrome or Safari 5.1.2.
Could you make a screenshot, upload it to your media library, and send us the link?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/It would also be helpful if you could let us know what browsers and OS you’re using, as well as their version numbers.
We’ll be happy to look into this issue for you. :-)

Well, now I’m having not seeing the problem either. I did change the theme recently so maybe that was the problem. Either way it seems to be fixed. Thanks for the advice. Sorry it took a while to get back to everyone. If I see it again I’ll post a screenshot.
