How can I format columns into my blog articles and posts WITHOUT a plugin?
-
I would like to format my blog pages to display the text in columns. This would be similar to how the text is formatted in a magazine.
Since I do not have a self-hosted site, how can I accomplish this without a plugin?

The notion that you can create you own theme here at WordPress.com is off-base. We can’t do that and we can’t edit templates or themes. Have you viewed the Themes Showcase magazine style themes?

You can use div and float tags. Or you can use tables. See here:

I am making the assumption that you want to have columns withing a page or a post. Timethief is right to point out that there are several magazine style themes available on wordpress.com where your home / archive / category pages can show columns of previous posts you have made.

You are welcome.
A tip: you don’t have to meticulously write out (or memorize) the code for each and every post if you save the model in a draft post or text program. Just paste the code snippet into a post where you want columns and fill in the details as needed.
