how can i get a domain name that is not available but not being used?
-
There is a domain name that I really want to use, when I try to create it is unavailable, but the site is not being used by anyone, is there anyway to get that domain?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What domain are you trying to use? Sometimes you can contact the owner of the domain to purchase it from them.

Im trying to use elizabethmarie.wordpress.com. As far as I can see it hasn’t been used since 2006, how would I contact them?
-
Try leaving a comment on the blog and hope the comments are set to notify blog owner and the email still works
other than that you are on your own, the staff will not help you contact the blog owner for privacy reasons

As you have posted a duplicate thread I am asking you to read carefully what I post below.
There is no expiration date on .wordpress.com blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via submitting a contact form on the site or commenting on a post on the site, then providing the site owner is agreeable to it there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
In the case that there is no contact information or you do not get a reponse to a contact form submission or a comment on the site, Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.
If you are not successful, you can see here for changing a blog address https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/ or here to register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

Thanks, I am really new to all this so I thought that I needed to submit another question. Your first paragraph answered my question, I was just trying to find out what I should say to them assuming I could get in contact with them. Thanks again for your help, I wont post anymore duplicate threads!

Everyone makes mistakes when they first do something new so don’t worry about the duplicate thread. I’m glad to know I helped you and best wishes with your site.
