How can I get an image caption to show up in a header?
-
Hello,
My blog (www.pnmd.net) uses the “Twenty Ten” theme. I have successfully uploaded a header image using the Customize option. Now I want to add the caption “Photo courtesy of Stephen Joseph Photography”. I have entered this caption on the Edit Media screen, in the Caption field and also in the Alternative Text field, but I can’t get it to show up in the header. Can someone please help? Many thanks.

Hi Howard,
Header images don’t display captions — captions are only used when the image is inserted into a post or page on the blog. I’d recommend adding that information in another place on the page.
For example, you could add a Text Widget in your sidebar that says “Photo courtesy of Stephen Joseph Photography” or “Header photo courtesy of Stephen Joseph Photography.”
Alternately, you could edit the image using photo-editing software on your computer and add that text directly to the image. That way it will appear when you add the header image to your blog.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hi Rachel,
Thanks for the quick response! Is it possible to have more than one text widget in a sidebar? I already have one that I want to keep. Can I add a second text widget containing the new text? Thanks again!

Hi there!
You can definitely have more than one Text Widget in your widget areas! Just find the Text widget in the list of widgets and hit add!
Let me know if I can help with anything else!

Rachel and Shawna:
I added the Text Widget and it works perfectly. Many thanks to you both!
