    Hi there,

Can you help me with more information about what you are trying to do?

If you are trying to connect to the existing domain you own elsewhere, I will recommend you to follow the below guide,
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

You can point your domain to WordPress.com using below name servers.

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

If your domain provider requires IP address only then please let me know, I will tag this thread for staff assistance. They will let you know exact IP addresses, as it might be changing.

    Hi!
    Thanks!

I have bought a new domain elsewhere and want to use it for my wordpress site.
My domain provider requires IP address – at least they say so.

In fact I think I will need to fill in the following DNS records in my customer panel with my domain provider, i.e.:

    Record types:
    A
    AAAA
    MX
    CNAME

Can you also help me with this?

    Best regards
    Paul

  • @pawellyszczyk, if you’ll need to take care of all of your own DNS settings anyway, I strongly recommend using our name servers and letting them handle your IP address. That way any changes we make will be taken care of automatically.

If you definitely want to manage your IP on your own, and check its settings to change it if it breaks, here’s how to find the correct address from a command prompt or terminal. Use this after mapping your domain, but prior to pointing it here:

    nslookup yourgroovydomain.com ns1.wordpress.com

That will tell you what IP(s) our name servers would point to if you were letting us manage the settings. Again, it’s often easier to let us manage those settings by pointing here:

    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com
    ns3.wordpress.com

Then if you need to add outside MX records, etc, you can:

    Manage Your DNS Records

And typically only the “root” record has to use an A record instead of a CNAME, so changing IPs on other services aren’t that big of a deal since they’re still handling IP addresses.
