How Can I Get Follow Button Up In Top Of Page?
-
I can get PAGES to show up there, especially when I don’t want them to! I can’t get the Follow button to move up into the bar on top of my screen where it would have the most impact.
Help?
Can someone suggest other free templates that will do this if mine won’t? I’d like one that has a footer header and sidebar if possible.

You can position the follow blog widget at the top of your sidebar. Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets or use the customizer to change the position of your widgets.

Hummm…I am looking for a free theme that will do what I want.
Why is it I can get things up there that I DON’T want up there…and had to figure out for myself how to get them OUT of there…but the one thing I DO want to get up there I can’t unless I pay for it?
I am using the blog here to track progress on a campaign I am running for my health and to raise money for an organization that helps un/underinsured diabetics get the supplies they need.
So you see my problem with anything to do with “pay” – everything I pay out is less money for the cause I am trying to support.

There isn’t a free or paid (premium) theme that I know of that does what you want to do.
We have do have a subscription shortcode which you can make use of. The help page on it is right here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscription-shortcode/
You can create a custom menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#1-create-a-custom-menu. Then create a page titled for example Follow Me. https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ on that Page you can also include the subscription shortcode. Then you can add that Page into your custom menu. https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-pages
Maybe that will work for you.
P.S. I am a Volunteer. This is a peer support forum and I am definitely not fixated promoting paid upgrades.

Hey, sorry if you misinterpreted what I said. I was just looking for a way to do for free…what otherwise would need to be paid for…mainly because I do not want to divert funds I am trying to raise, for a cause I believe deeply in…so deeply, in fact, that I am undertaking a walk of over 19,000 miles to support it!
I think you may have given me an answer I was looking for, I will have to play with it a bit.

Not to worry and I understand where you are coming from. :) I hope it works for you. Please post again to let me know how you make out with it.

I just got it done.
This is what I was looking to accomplish, thank you!Again, sorry if you misinterpreted my words as being accusing you of pushing upgrades. And normally, I would not mind paying a little for what I wanted, but I just don’t want to take money away from the cause I am working for.
So far, I have raised a whole big 50 bucks, but I expect this will go up as word spreads about what I am doing…I have so far completed only about 200 miles of the 19,000 I have to go!

This is what I was looking to accomplish, thank you!
Hooray! I love happy endings.
Note: Some bloggers create a page and place a Paypal donation button on it. Maybe that will work for you.

Nice work, @timethief :) I’ll remove this from modlook since it’s more or less wrapped up now.
@diabetesgal, you could link to the GoFundMe page from your custom menu, too. You might also use an image widget to link to your GoFundMe page.

Okay, for the custom menu, just use the same steps you used before. Only instead of linking to a page, choose a custom link, and paste in your GoFundMe link.
Then, if you’ve got a good image you’d like to use, go to My Site > Customize > Widgets and add an Image widget. Add your image, and add a link to your GoFundMe page.
Cheers!

See here for the guide for adding custom links to your custom menu https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-custom-links
