How can I get more than 15 images to appear on my Portfolio Pages? I’m using the Photographer Theme.
Thanks for your help, Meghan :)

Hi Meghan,
Can you send me a link to one of your Portfolio pages where you’re having trouble with this? That would help me take a closer look and figure out what’s going on. Thanks!
-
hi Rachel, Thank you! Here’s one page that I’d like to add 40 plus images to… http://meghanoonaclifford.wordpress.com/art/visual-taoism
My concern arose when I was in Appearance > Theme Options and saw that the Portfolio Page only allows up to 15 posts.
Is this referring to the number of blog posts or photo posts?
Thank! ~Meghan :)

Also, can I have more than one Portfolio Page? In Appearance > Theme Options it says “Choose the portfolio page category,” so if I’d like to include a few different Portfolio Pages how do I assign different categories to each?
Thanks so much, Meghan :)

Hi Meghan,
Aha, I get it now, thanks for explaining! :) The Photographer theme allows a maximum of 15 posts per page on portfolio pages, but that doesn’t mean you’re limited to 15 posts per portfolio — it just means that if you have more posts than that, you will see navigation at the bottom of the portfolio page to go to another page. (Kind of like when you navigate to see older posts on a regular blog.)
If that sounds confusing, try going to Appearance > Theme Options and restricting the “Portfolio Posts Displayed” setting to 1 or 2 posts. If you look at your portfolio page, you should see the navigation links at the bottom of the page to view other posts in that portfolio. :)
Also, can I have more than one Portfolio Page? In Appearance > Theme Options it says “Choose the portfolio page category,” so if I’d like to include a few different Portfolio Pages how do I assign different categories to each?
There are two different ways to set up portfolios in the Photographer theme. You can use the Portfolio Page Template, or you can use categories. Using categories lets you set up as many portfolios as you’d like. There are instructions on the Portfolio support page, but I’ll include them here, too:
- Create a Post
- Add your Title and Content
- Set a Featured Image for the Post
- Add a Category to the Post (e.g. Landscapes)
- Publish the Post
- Repeat process as necessary
- Add the assigned Category to the Custom Menu
- The layout can be changed in Theme Options within Portfolio Category Layout setting
- You may optionally display or hide the Title and Excerpt within the Theme Options
Let me know if you have any questions about that! If you have questions, you can also get support directly from the theme author in the Photographer support forum:

Great! Thank you so much, I’m making some progress now :)
Which brings up another question — within the Portfolio page (as set up via Categories), can I manually arrange the order of each Post’s image? Or is it a matter of creating the Posts in order from oldest to newest to make the newer images appear first, on top of the page?
Thanks!!! ~Meghan :)

Hi Meghan,
Glad you’re making progress — your artwork is awesome! :)
The order of the posts on your portfolio page will depend on the date they were posted, so it automatically puts the newer images first, at the top of the page. If you want to rearrange the posts, you can change a post’s published date in the post editor. Look for the “Published on” date in the Publish module, and click the Edit link to change the date. Be sure to update the post to save your changes when you’re done.
Let me know if I can help with anything else!

Thank you so much!
I do, in fact, have another question! I just went to the Store and clicked that I already own the domain name I want to set up at the primary URL for this site, and paid the $13 for WP to integrate it…
Do I click my own URL as the “Primary?” I did so, but how long does it take to work? Currently it shows up as the old site, and when I navigate to the pages within the Dashboard from WP, it shows the current, newly updated URL, but no content.
Help!
Thanks!!! ~Meghan :)

Hi Meghan,
To use your domain name with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to change the domain’s settings to point it to WordPress.com. To do that, you will need to change the domain’s nameservers to the following:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
You’ll need to do that in the domain manager at your domain registrar. If you’re not sure how, your domain registrar should be able to help you with that. It looks like your domain is registered with Fast Domain, and they have a help page for changing your name servers here in case you need it:
https://my.fastdomain.com/cgi/help/222
It can take 2-3 days for domain changes like this to take effect everywhere. (This process is called domain propagation.) Once you see your WordPress.com site come up at your domain, you can go ahead and change this domain to the primary one under Store > Domains in your dashboard.
If you have any questions about that, let me know. :)

hi! All of your help has worked so far — THANK YOU!
I need a little more help again… I’m trying to add a sub domain called shop.meghanoonaclifford.com…
Can I set that up in WordPress even though http://www.meghanoonaclifford.com is registered originally with register.com? If I register it on WordPress, how to I classify it as a sub domain?
It will have to point to shopify, so the nameservers will have to be changed as well.
Thanks in advance! I really appreciate it ~Meghan

Hi Meghan,
When you set up subdomains, all you need to do is create a CNAME record here at WordPress.com — you won’t need to change your domain’s nameservers. You can add custom DNS records like CNAME records by going to Store > Domains in your dashboard. Next to your custom domain there, click the Edit DNS link.
You can enter custom DNS on that page. CNAME records are in this format:
CNAME <subdomain> <host>.So if you have a Shopify store at the address meghan.myshopify.com and you want it to be at the subdomain shop.meghanoonaclifford.com, this will be your CNAME record:
CNAME shop meghan.myshopify.com.Let me know if you have any questions! We also have more information about custom DNS here: Custom DNS
