How can I get my header back?
-
I used the hide theme link on my blog, and now I want to display the theme again. When I put the theme back in the display box and click save, it will not save. How can I get the theme to save an display again. I also hit the randomize button by mistake, I don’t know if that matters, but thought I should mention it.
Thanks for your assistance with this matter.

Hi there. I’m assuming when you type “hide theme” you mean “hide header”?
When you go to Appearance ->Customize in your dashboard and click on the Header tab, do you see your old header under Previously Uploaded? If it is there, click on it. It should now appear under “Current Header”. Click Save.
If you’re header image isn’t under Previously Uploaded, see what happens if you upload a new image completely.

Hi,
I didn’t upload a header, I was using the one that came with the theme. I just hid it and when I try to save it back again, I can’t. I can see the theme sitting in the suggested area, when I click on it, it moves to current header. Then I click save. When I view my blog, it’s not displaying.
Not trying to upload, just want the original one back that came with the theme.
Thanks

Hi there. The problem appears to be with the customizer – I was able to replicate the problem and even uploading a new header won’t work.
Please check on your dashboard, in the Appearance section, is there a tab titled Header? This link should also take you there: https://vjohnsonibo.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-header
If you’re able to reach that screen (I understand some newer blogs don’t have that option anymore), look for the button that says “Restore Original Header Image”. Click that and save your settings. That should do the trick.
If you can’t access the Header page at that link, let me know.

I’m tagging this for staff in any case:

It does not appear to be possible to revert to the theme’s (Chateau) default header via the Header tab in the Customizer, only via the Custom Header page under Appearance ->Header. In the Customizer, the correct header appears in the slide-out tab and in the preview, but it does not appear on the actual blog. As the Custom Header page in the dashboard is being phased out, shouldn’t the option to restore the theme default header perhaps be added to the Customizer? Thanks. -
Hello again,
That worked! I have my theme design displaying on my blog.
Thank you so much for your help.
