How can I get my Main heading on my blog to look sharp without fuzzy letters?
-
My heading on Bueno looks too stretched out; the letters aren’t sharp and they are fuzzy. This is also true of the menu words underneath the main heading. Does this have anything to do with the width? How can I correct it?

Firefox 13.0.1
the “A” in the word health looks the worst. The words are improved since I changed it to blue from black. The words underneath the “m’s” and the “a’s” are all jagged.

First off, can you take a screenshot of what you are seeing and upload it to your media library and give a the URL so that we can take a look? http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
Firefox did have some rendering issues a while ago and perhaps they have not completely come out of that, but on my Mac I’m not seeing much of a difference between FF and Safari. Safari always looks better on my computer than any other browser (chrome, FF, Opera).
Second issue is that the first font being used in the font stack, Impact, was never really designed for the web, and the thickness of the strokes and tight letter spacing can make it difficult to read on monitors. That is why it should only be used for very large type. Personally I would not use it for the menu. At that size it is more difficult to read.

These are 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/
(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
Note: A few themes do provide for changing font color in the Blog Title and/or optional Tagline and/or links. In the majority of themes font changes to font families, colors and size in the blog title, tagline, menu, post titles, page titles, categories and tags, widget headings, comments, and links cannot be done without CSS editing.

Internet Explorer, in general, renders text strokes narrower, so yes, I would suspect the font would look better in it. There is even a difference in rendering between Mac and Windows, so things would look slightly different in Firefox on Windows and on Mac.
If you had the Custom Design Upgrade, you would have access to the entire Typekit online font library and would be able to choose another font. You would also be able to edit the CSS and change styling and such, but there is no way to change the font without that upgrade.

I already answered that question above. :)

Yes I can use IE8 and when I do I see what you mean. I will flag this thread and it will be moved to the Themes Forum where Themes Staff will address and fix this issue.

OK, thank you timethief. I will give your suggestions a try. I am a reluctant computer guru. My son used to call me Bill Gates. Now I’m learning how to design websites; add to that now I’m going to be adding to my code knowledge.
Boy, they really sold us a bill of goods when they sold us computers. But you either go with the flow or you’re left in the dust.
Thank you both. I’m sure I’ll be back here soon. LOL.
