How can I get my old domain name back?
-
I deleted my wordpress.com domain last year. Now i’m trying to get it back and use the same domain, but it tells me the domain is already in use, “sorry, that site already exists!.” When I type it the address (i.e. domainname.wordpress.com) it says it’s no longer available because, “the authors have deleted this site.” So is it deleted or does it still exists? What’s the deal here?
So clearly no one is using the same domain since it’s been completely deleted. I’m wondering is there is any way to make it available again?

Hi there,
The answer is no. If and when you or anyone else delete a .wordpress.com blog URL then you cannot register it again, and there are several warnings that clearly state that blog deletion is a permanent and irreversible act provided throughout the deletion process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

Hi timethief,
Thank you very much for the reply, and all the info. Clearly missed those “permanent” warnings somehow. I’ll figure something out, hopefully. Thanks again!
