How can I get my url to direct to the correct site?

    Hello,

I just sent in a question about having my url direct to the appropriate Web site but almost immediately after sending that out I began experiencing a new problem.

I began modifying my new WordPress.org website (which is the one I want to use for my business) and now when I go to preview the changes I made, it either directs me to my old, deleted WordPress.com blog or to my hostgator website.
    Blog url: http://svrowan.wordpress.com/

Could you let us know the URL of the new site that you’re working on?

To clarify, when you click on the Preview button, you see your WordPress.com site?

I set my WordPress.org site address url to: sailschoonerhindu.com. I forget what the default site address was, but it started with http://localhost

    The WordPress.org address url: http://localhost/wordpress

My username for WordPress.org is HinduCharters

It’s almost as if the .org site doesn’t have its own url now because sailschoonerhindu.com doesn’t get you there and I am unable to connect to the site I’m working on through the .org dashboard.

    Thanks!

Just as an update, I remembered that the site url on my .org site was the same url as the wordpress url. So, for now, I reset the site url to http://localhost/wordpress so I can continue to work on the site. Hopefully soon I will be able to change the site url back to sailschoonerhindu.com and it will take me to my awesome new wordpress.org site!

    Thanks!

    Howdy,

I’m glad to hear you’re set!

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities.

If you need support for a self-hosted WordPress blog, it’s best to go to:

    Thanks! :-)

I’m sorry my messages are confusing but I am not set at all and I’m getting very frustrated. I am aware wordpress.com and wordpress.org are two different entities, as I mentioned in earlier messages to the support team.

In my last message, I said I made a temporary adjustment to be able to continue building my wordpress.org site. The original problems all still exist. I can’t give clients a url that says localhost/wordpress. I really hope someone can help me soon.

I’ve been trying again and again to set my WordPress.org site url to sailschoonerhindu.com but my old, deleted WordPress.com blog keeps coming up at that address. I’ve entered the nameservers for my WordPress.org site’s host, which is Hostgator, into my domain name holder’s form (godaddy). When I make a post in my WordPress.org dashboard and hit “preview” it directs me to a generic hostgator Web site.

    Howdy,

Your domain, sailschoonerhindu.com, is now pointing to HostGator’s name servers.

This would seem to be correct if you’re hosting your WordPress(.org) site there.

You might try contacting HostGator for assistance.
