How can I get out of WordPress and return to Live Spaces?
-
Okay, I’m a newbie to blogging. Simple when I blogged through Live Spaces, but that lame editer in WordPress scrambles up my text and will not allow me to edit it correctly.
I just want to get the hell out of here! Five days I’ve been with this WordPress editer and have had enough. I know when I’m beat.
Thanks…GarryThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can’t return to live spaces, its closing. If WordPress doesn’t suite you look at blogger, facebook, myspace, or similar.

http://windowslivehelp.com/thread.aspx?threadid=f7606c27-da29-444b-9eb6-7635a98c9081 You cannot revert to Live Spaces once you’ve migrated your blog.
But asking for help is exactly why the forums are here.
What is it about the Editor that you are having trouble with? Are you pasting text from a word processing program?

Please understand that Microsoft didn’t give you any choice: You can either move to WP.com or you can lose everything, because they never did provide a way for you to get your posts and take them anywhere you like.
Once your stuff is here, however, we have an excellent Export function and then you can take a copy of your blog and go to Blogger or Tumblr or anywhere you like with it.

Thank you all for your help and time. I’ve calmed down a bit from my OP. I finally was able to get my correctly edited blog to my account in WordPress.
Following the advise from another member (dag, I need to get back there to thank him. Don’t even know his screen-name) I first created a new account in Live Writer, pasted the text into LW from MS Word, sent it to WordPress, then keep the blog private until I used the funtion export/import. Now, it’s all good!
I still don’t like the editor much in WordPress, but I know I need to learn alot more on all the funtions on the site by digging and reading more. I’ve already picked up some useful information this way. Thanks again.

If you’re going to use Word, please take extra precautions so it doesn’t mess up your blog; it has a tendency to do that.
Go to Settings->General and then select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and that means if Word messes up your code tags, WordPress will fix it automatically. It’s a good precaution to take even if you don’t use Word.
Once you’re past the beginner stage, you can look at http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com for some really excellent, WP-specific advice.

raincoaster, Thanks for the heads up on Word and XHTML corrections.
Very nice site. I have tucked away the link, but knowing me I’ll be peeking here and there. I do need to float the WordPress site more. WordPress is the same as with computer tech…read, read, then practice, and repeat, repeat, though I must say, I’m not a throwback when it comes to computers, but feel kind of silly at the begginers stage with blogging. And I thought I was sombody…lol
Thanks big time for your help. From what I seen of your four years here, you’re quite busy. Much more appreciated for your time…Baldeguy56

By the way, once you’ve set up your WordPress.com blog, if LW means “Live Writer”, you can use that and post to your blog without having to log-in online. http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/windows-live-writer/

@baldguy56
Is this the thread you’re referring to that helped with WLW ? → https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/unable-to-configure-windows-live-writer-1?replies=12

justjennifer, yes LH is Live Writer and I’ll be using that till I can get better at using WordPress’ editor. With raincoaster’s suggestions with using MS Word and pertaining to XHTML, I believe I’ll be using MS Word to send to WordPress for auto-correct any invalid entries. I have seen that feature in LW also. Need to make a private draft to send to WordPress to test these two apps.
slikbonez, that’s not the one, but I’ll look for it as it had other info I can use. I came acress the WordPress article on one of my fishing tours on WordPress. Looks like I’m gone fishing some more.

Ah, hate to double post, but here is the page located in Support that got me rolling…

We do not provide emotional support in the technical forums. If you can’t read that Windows has abandoned you and left you ONLY this one route out, we cannot help you. Enjoy dying in six months.

@jeniiz- Window Live Spaces has already said you can’t go back. Look at my first post above. Going around the forum and posting complaints about the transition to Live Spaces, about how much you hate WordPress.com and how much you miss Live Spaces isn’t solving anyone’s problems, least of all yours.
If you have a specific Support question, then please ask. There are plenty of forum volunteers and mods here willing to help you with the transition if they can, and if they can’t answer your question, you’ll be directed to WordPress.com Support. Here’s some information to get you started. http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrading-from-windows-live-spaces/how-do-i/
PS if you don’t like WordPress.com and want to move somewhere else, if your transition here went smoothly, you can export your WordPress.com blog and move wherever else you’d like. http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

I don’t think this because wordpress does not allow me to autoplay any music on my page. It needs to be dead silent in here… yippie

@marianito79: Hi. I think you will find your answer here.

@room0501: If you have a WordPress.COM blog, you can try one of the solutions on this thread:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/autoplay-and-loop-for-music?replies=4#post-499234This being said, I personally hate websites that automatically play music when you visit them (except of course websites for bands or singers because that’s sort of expected).
